Carbon Brief, the award-winning climate journalism outlet, today announced a three-week paid summer internship for students and recent graduates. The position, based in London, offers the London Living Wage of £14.80 per hour plus a £100 travel bursary.

Internship Details

The placement runs from 13 to 31 July, with a hybrid format requiring time at the office near London Bridge and remote work. Interns will work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

Learning Outcomes

Interns will experience how a small, independent but global journalism team operates daily. They will see step-by-step article production, learn to interrogate news, data and reports, and pick up skills for using visuals effectively in journalism.

Required Skills

  • Interest in climate change.
  • Some experience writing technical topics for a general audience (including self-publishing).
  • Commitment to journalistic integrity.
  • Competency in word processing and spreadsheets (e.g., MS Word/Excel or Google Docs/Sheets).
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Experience with social media (e.g., Twitter/X, Instagram) is a plus.
